Baccarat - Game Rules and Tips |
|
 Baccarat
takes its name from an Italian word meaning zero, which
in this game is the value given to the face cards. This
is a card game that has been traditionally associated
with high rollers. It's quickand exciting, but simple
to learn and play.
The object of Baccarat is to hold a hand of either
two or three cards whose value is as close to 9 as possible.
Before any cards are dealt, the player must place a
wager on either their hand or the dealers hand. After
placing their bet, the player is dealt two cards before
the dealer is dealt two cards. Depending on their hand,
both the player and the dealer can draw an extra card
should they wish. The hand which is nearest to 9 wins
the game.
Face cards and the number 10 cards are valued at 0.
Ace cards are valued at 1, with the remainder of the
pack being counted at their face value. The value of
a Baccarat hand is always given as a single digit, with
the unit of 10 being disregarded. For example, a 7 and
a 9, totaling 16, would be valued at 6.
Bets placed on both winning player and dealer hands
are paid at 1 to 1. However, because of the way the
cards are dealt, the dealer has a slightly better chance
of winning so a 5% commission is charged on all winning
dealer hands.
